The faith which unites us and to which we bear witness is that
faith in God which the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments set
forth, which the ancient Church expressed in the Apostles and Nicene
Creeds, to which our own spiritual fathers and mothers gave
utterance in the evangelical confessions of the Reformation, which
we are duty bound to express in the words of our time as God Himself
gives us light.
We believe in, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
We believe in, Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
He ascended into heaven,
He is seated at the right hand of the Father,
And he will come to judge the living and the dead.
We believe in, the Holy Spirit,
We believe in the holy universal Church, the community of believers,
The resurrection of the body,
And the life everlasting.
Amen
Community
We are committed to respecting and building relationships with our local community by sharing our lives with and learning from those who share their lives with us.
We see teamwork, networking, and mutual accountability as vital, recognizing that individuals and churches need each other.
We acknowledge neglected areas of our city, trying to find ways of communicating Jesus appropriately to those most frequently marginalized, condemned and abused by society.
Creativity
We attribute worth to God by exploring various forms of teaching, prayer, worship, art, drama, poetry, and we are open to learning new ways to worship God.
We aim to provoke action, encouraging creativity and diversity, in both church and community, as we try to discover relevant ways of being church in different contexts.
Inclusion
We believe that all people are loved by God regardless of age, gender, education, class, ethnicity, sexuality or physical/mental health, and that God works through all believers - and others besides.
We welcome all people into our community regardless of lifestyle or religious background, past or future. Our passion is to love people simply because they exist.
Prayer
We acknowledge our dependence on God and affirm our continual need of prayer and God’s empowering Spirit as we strive to serve one another and the needs of our city.
We realize that God’s sprit flows freely and know that we are not indispensable. What we attempt to do is part of a much bigger picture, so we will try to keep ourselves in perspective.
Relationship
We believe that the gospel works through relationships and that serving God consists largely in building life-giving relationships with others.
We are committed to building and maintaining safe, healthy relationships within our church and our larger community as we try to understand and and emulate a gracious God who desires to be in relationship with all humanity .Teaching
We believe that questions and theological reflection are important as we explore the inspired writings found in both the Old and New testaments.
As we learn together, we honor differing opinions by asking questions, while seeking truth.
